First Ramadan as a new Muslim — what should I know?

I took shahada eight months ago and this will be my first Ramadan. I've read the basics about the fast itself, but I'd rather hear the practical things people wish they'd known.

Also — my family isn't Muslim and I still live at home. Any advice on making that work would be very welcome.
